Hey everyone,

My undergrad GPA is pretty low and I have decided to attend graduate school as a "stepping stone" into dental school.

Does it matter what subject/field you study in graduate school? I

I want to conduct my research/thesis in either animal behavior or population ecology which I assume is not really "healthy---dental related). However it will be within the Biological Science department and I will get my Masters from the department.

Does anyone see a potential problem with this? Will it actually be more beneficial (in terms of getting into dental school) for me to focus my reserach/thesis in a health related subject....say genetics?

I called a few of the dental shcools and got differing answers......

Thanks all

Why would you do graduate work in animal behavior if you want to go to dental school? I'm not sure how dental schools calculate GPA or what constitutes a competative GPA in dental school vs Medical school but one thing to keep in mind, I'm not sure if its the same for dental school but graduate work does not factor into your undergraduate GPA for medical school. If this is true for dental school also, wouldnt it make more sense to do a post-bacc and up your GPA vs. a masters in a totally unrelated field?
