I have a great deal of respect for service men and women but recruiters I don't particularly trust so I'd rather ask questions here.....

It seems like the accession bonus will be raised to 200k, but does anyone know if the Air Force has the same policy since the AF has not had the same recruitment trouble?

Looking toward going Navy if the AF does not issue the same accession bonus would I be able to know my duty station prior to inking the contract?

In the Navy or AF what are the chances of getting a European duty station being married and how long to those orders typically last?

Thanks in advance, I have so much appreciate to those of you that give your time so students can better determine their future.

I haven't heard of any other services offering the $200k accession bonus yet. I know the Army usually will work with you on getting your first assignment lined up before you sign on, not sure about the Air Force or Navy. European assignments are 3-4 years with the Army if you bring your family and probably wouldn't be too hard to get.

I did the Army scholarship, the 4-year HPSP was worth more than 200K. Graduated May 2007, and am stationed in Bamberg, Germany. There were 4 Army guys in my class, three of us wanted Germany, and two of us got it. The other guy was on the 3-yr program, don't know if that made a difference. He got his second choice, which was D.C. The fourth guy also got his first choice, Kentucky.
