Hey guys. I am applying to medical school for the 2014 entering class. I am a high school dropout with a GED, but I managed to get accepted to my university and have excelled there. I took some time off after high school and ended up doing an internship for 16 months where we traveled America and raised awareness about preventable deaths in teenagers in young adults. I have 85 credit hours now from doing summer school/CLEP/regular course work and I plan to graduate in May. Will my application be discriminated against because I will be a 3 year graduate? The stats (because I know that is the first question) 4.0c, 4.0s, 30 MCAT (10p 8v 12b). I have 40 hours shadowing, 100 hours clinical volunteer, directing a student organization this year, approx 1 year of research (no pubs), TA for 3 semesters, tutor, some other minor things (my internship was volunteer so I have 2000+ hours from that). I will be 24 when I matriculate into med school. I am applying broadly and hope to get some love. Will this 3 year graduation hurt me/help me/make no difference? Thanks for the help guys, sdn has been a huge help to me.

Nope. U got your BA right? Then u might've made a financially smarter decision to graduate early. I know someone who graduated in 3.5 years and is now at UCLA.

Yeah I'll be receiving a BS in biology with a minor in biochemistry. It is definitely going to be much cheaper than going for a fourth year. Hopefully I can get some interviews this cycle. I love talking with people and telling them my story.

Do I have a good shot at some MD programs? I submitted AMCAS yesterday for Drexel, Jefferson, Temple, Penn State, Wake Forest, SLU, Oklahoma, Kansas, NYU, NYMC, MCW, Vanderbilt, and a couple others. (PA resident with strong ties to OK)

Don't forget Loma Linda if you are religious.

Yeah I considered Loma Linda but they don't waive the secondary fee for AMCAS FAP and I already go to a smaller Christian school now. Although I love my school, I want a more diverse experience for medical school. Does my school list right now look ok?
