Good morning all,

I wanted to ask if anyone had suggestions on whether or not to buy Grammarly premium for secondary essays. I’ve been iffy about it, but I sincerely feel it might help my writing efforts as I move through secondaries.

Also, are there any other online tools that can help me as I work through this writing? I didn’t have the best English education throughout my childhood and so my writing suffers because of it. :/

Thanks for all of y’all’s help in advance!!!

I used it for polishing my personal statement and will use it for my secondaries too. I found it helpful.

If money is tight, you might want to consider any free resources your undergrad provides, like a writing center.

Personally, I like SlickWrite. It's free and it also picks up on some of the "premium" mistakes that Grammarly premium would identify. I used Grammarly Premium back when they were giving out free trials, and I can't say that it's worth the price it is now.

I've used Grammarly Premium for a few years now and absolutely love it. You can find like 20% off discount coupons online. Definitely worth spending the $120ish (don't remember exact amount it is) for higher quality essays. It works in any text box as well (even SDN!)! You'll be spending hours upon hours writing... it's nice to have a good (not perfect) grammar reader by your side.

I couldn’t agree more. When you type on a screen I think your mind tricks the eye that things look ok, when often they are off. That’s why we subscribe.

English teachers always tell kids to print your writing and actually read it aloud. Even better if someone else reads it. They don’t know what you meant to say.

I used grammarly premium for my app cycle and most of my undergrad, overall I found it very useful. I’m not always the best with my grammar, so having it screen my essay before submitting saved me from a lot of stupid mistakes.
