Hello all, I am applying MD/PhD this year hoping to join a Bioengineering program for the graduate portion. A few of the schools I am applying to (such as USC, CWRU, etc) mentioned that the GRE is not required but would be looked upon favorably in the admissions process. UM requires it for BME admissions.

I usually do well on standardized exams, so I'll be taking it next week. I am not entirely sure how the score reporting process works though. I know I can list GRE scores on my AMCAS app, but the AAMC will not verify them.

Should I send score reports to all schools that mentioned them? If I do particularly well, should I just send them to all schools? Or should I just assume they will believe me if I put it in AMCAS and send the report if they ask? If I am to send the scores to all schools, should I wait until my primary app is sent out or should I send them immediately after the exam?

Sorry about all the questions. Are there any past bioengineers that have sent GRE scores and would know more about the process? Thanks for any advice!

Not a bioengineer but I had to send some schools GRE scores for dds/PhD.You should ask the admissions people which school code to send the scores to. During the test you will identify the schools based on this code and they will receive the scores a few weeks later.

key is to talk to a person about it rather than just look at their website. I know md/PhD is more streamlined than dds, but in my experience the websites are not always up to date..especially when it's not the most popular choice

Thanks for the advice! In case anyone is curious, USC told me they would prefer I not send a score report until my primary is in (kind of weird I guess).

I'm waiting to hear back from CWRU and UMICH now.
