Some of my study groupmates and I were trying to find some good resources for preparing for lecutures and exams, and we've found two sites. I want to share with you all.
Basically, they are two USMLE Question Banks, but they are different from typcial question banks (Kaplan, USMLERx, etc) in that they are great for everyday studying (in additional to preparing for USMLE).
The first one is USMLExchange
http://www.usmlexchange.com
This is the best because it has tons of test questions, great UI, useful performance analysis, and best of all NO SUBSCRIPTION NECESSARY. You can create new tests based on disciplines or organ systems.
It is extremely cheap (about 1 cent per question), and you can use it throughout your first and second year. By the time you are ready to study for board, you can simply reset your account (something that you can't do with Kaplan, USMLErx, etc), and you can use the entire question bank again.
The second one is Stepprep
http://stepprep.com/
This is is very similar to USMLExchange, and it is a little older. It offers a lot of test questions as well. In addition, you can download lecture notes, flash cards, audio lectures, etc from the site. It is good if you want something more than test question alone. The only downside is that is does require a subscription (1 year - $75), but it's still a lot cheaper than Kaplan.
The bottom line is that, we all have to take the boards, and we know it. Why not start using these USMLE question bank earlier to get a feel for it?
