I am going to Greenwich next year for internal medicine but am not that familiar with the hospital. Don't remember much from interview day, the first time I had ever been there. It seemed nice, kind of "posh," not like a New York City hospital though it is very close to the city. Flatscreen tvs in the new hospital building and lots of free food on a daily basis.

I have heard everything from it's cushy to the residents work very hard and get dumped on a lot, are bombarded with admissions. Was wondering if anyone has the real scoop.

I have already looked on scutwork and it seems like the reviews are mixed.

I'm not familiar with the program itself. However, are you unfamiliar with the town of Greenwich? You seemed a bit surprised by the hospital's nice resources. Greenwich Connecticut is one of the wealthiest (if not the single wealthiets) communities in the entire nation! A lot of insanely wealthy people who work in NYC live there. These are people earning $10 Million + per year! As a smaller community hospital, I'd imagine that they treat the Residents well and that the workload is reasonable, but I could be wrong. I have been told that this is the case at Norwalk hospital, which is in the same region. I hope you found (or are provided with) affordable housing!

bump. Just got their brochure in the mail today. Didn't realize it was such a posh place, but they do offer $53K for the stipend plus free apartments within 5 minutes of the hospital.

the teaching is not taht fabulous whatsoever and you won't be top pick for fellowships at all, but if you're into primary care anyway, this place is PERFECT! i was ***this*** clsoe to going there.

they pay great.
fabulous shopping/stores 3 blocks away.
they pay for your apartment - whether you're single or hae a family of 5.
you get 2 (very nice) meals a day - whether or not you're on call
the facilities are GORGEOUS

call me shallow - i don't care. congrats! 🙂

I just got an interview here and am wondering what does it mean "Yale Affiliated", when we graduate from residency, do we get a 'Yale Diploma'!?!?! anyhow..... this program looks sweet! I am looking fwd to my interview!

any other comments about this program? any current residents with their experiences?

You do not get a Yale diploma and the affiliation is not exactly very strong. It is in the same network of hospitals but you do not rotate at Yale unless Greenwich allows it. Sounds like a luxurious experience worth checking out. I personally could not take care of the upper-middle class population on a routine basis, but that it your preference then go for it and good luck!

go to their site:

http://www.greenhosp.org/residency5.asp#application

and look at the PDF. there's a picture of the diploma you get on finishing. it has greenwich hospital at the top and yale university in the middle in large type.

there's also more info on electives at yale. it says pgy2 and 3 you can do up to 60% of electives at yale.

would like to be in CT for residency... is this program competitive to get an intvw? what is the typical profile for applicants that intvw here???

Anyone know about this program in terms of what kind of applicants go there? Avg boards? Is this at all a competitive community hospital?
