Hello all.
I am entirely new to this forum. So let me start by giving my credentials first.
I am a non-US IMG. YOG - 4
Step 1 score - in the 220s
Step 2 ck score - low 200s
Step 2 cs - scheduled for May.
I intend to apply for Family medicine program for the 2015 match.
As my scores are very low and as Family medicine residency positions are getting competitive each year, what are my down to earth chances of getting interviews?. I am ready to apply in underserved and rural community based hospitals. If my chances are pretty low, what can I do further to strengthen myself as a candidate while applying to these programs.
Any honest opinions and advices would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure what YOG - 4 means? Do you need a visa?

The answer is simple - apply broadly (meaning everywhere) and to as many programs you can afford. Its going to be tough and your scores are not the absolute worse. hopefully you passed them both in your first attempt. You can take step 3 to stregthen your application and try to do research in Family Medicine.

Another great way to connect with programs is at the AAFP National conference in Kansas City. Most of the countries programs do show up and try to recruit through out the weekend.

Thank you.
YOG means years after graduation. Yes, I need a visa. I passed both the steps in first attempt.
When is the AAFP happening? Anytime soon?
Thank you again for your response.

YOG - year OF graduation - which is why i was confused by the "4". Most programs do have a cut off on years after graduation and this isn't always listed on their respective websites. You'll have to do some research and the conference is typically late summer but you can check aafp.org for details.
