Hi longtime lurker

Interests are research in infectious disease. Support systems would be comparable in each place.

Big on community service, which is probably why i like both schools.
Thoughts?
Also just curious, why so much hate on SDN for Gtown?

I think most of the Gtown hate has to do with admissions practices (that may not even be the case anymore)

Its a good school education-wise, I have never heard anyone doubt that

First, i'm glad to know I'm not the only person who senses the hate.

and do you mean like the whole 'we interview a thousand people and put practically all on the wait list' type of practices?

There was an old, long running thread on SDN called “worst admissions staff in the country” or something of that ilk that detailed the grievances. Iirc it had something to do with the importance placed on thank yous and letters of interest, maybe some other stuff.

Idk, its no big deal, and it shouldnt impact your decision. Even the guy who started it said he probably would have gone there if he got in.

There were also some scheduling problems and a guy didn’t get to go to his interview and the admissions office didn’t reschedule it. Some weird anecdotal unfortunate circumstance. From my experience they’ve been pleasant, albeit somewhat needy with the letters of interest and all lol. But that’s really not that bad... plus they reject throughout the cycle so no silently being left hanging.

I agree that it’s a good school and the above shouldn’t affect your decision. Both schools are great. Comes down to location and cost I think. If MN is in state, might be a better option.
