at 12 in the morning??? I am assuming e-mail, damn, arizona is more cryptic and f'in crazy than I thought.

A ton of people at my school got a letter yesterday rejecting them from AZATSUDOH. Good thing I withdrew eons ago! Nobody cool is going there anyway . (from my school)

I just got a rejection from AZ also. I am a native Arizonan but that doesn't matter at ASDOH. From what I am hearing the school that is opening up in Glendale is going to be a million times better than the Mesa school anyway. If you don't get in this year to one of your other choices then I suggest not even applying to the Mesa school next year and apply to the Glendale school instead. ASDOH chooses the people that they interview out of a hat. They are so ridiculous when it comes to what weighs on their decision making process. I know three people that haven't recieved interview invites anywhere because of their low stats but for some reason ASDOH decided to offer them interviews. I don't understand why. I was told by every dentist that I ever shadowed here in AZ (including my dad) to not even apply to the AZ school but I went against my better judgment and wasted my money anyways. Oh well. Just keep your heads up and there will be other opportunities. I have had interviews at Case and Temple and I have one at Pacific and Loma Linda coming up. All four of these schools (in my opinion) have way more to offer than ASDOH. At least we won't have to pay for our patients procedures if we end up elsewhere.

Wow, dude, be a little more graceful. You're right, there will be other opportunities. No need to bad mouth the schools that reject you.

actually, at Temple you do have to cover for your patients procedures if they fail to pay.

I am not familiar with the Glendale school. Is it a sister campus of asdoh or a completely new school?

what a baby
chill out

ASDOH screens their aplicants for an extensive demonstration of public service. You graduate from there w/ a certificate in Public health, for goodness sake. If you dont have a lot of community service outside of volunteering at dental clinics than that might be why you got a rejection. Your story that people w/ lesser stats are getting interviews is refreshing. Killer stats dont always translate to what a school is looking for. ASDOH doesn't hide that they want people who are interested in public health.

I agree that you shouldn't bash any school.

For those of you that received a rejection letter from AZ, when did you interview? I was under the assumption they sent out rejections two weeks after interviewing. True or False?

sadly, we were rejected PRE-interview. nice, huh?🙄

I wonder if anyone has been rejected after their interview? AZ says they notify you two weeks later of your rejection. Anyone want to speak up?

I thought I froze-up pretty bad durring the interview, yet still haven't recieved a rejection post interview😳 . I interviewed about a month ago now.

The admissions lady said that they don't really have many no's (sending out a rejection right away) They believe they screen very well and every one that comes for an interview is good enough. Instead they have three teers of yes's (if they had unlimitted spots you would get in). You can find out where you stand in the second week of december as I understood it. She told us that 1st teers get in, 2nd teers might, and 3rd teers wont). So, being in the third group is essentially a rejection. They just wont send you anything unitil the spring. That being said, they understand that you might have to make a choice to put a deposit down at another school, hence being able to email or call and find out where you stand.

Sorry if I was bad mouthing the school. I am just from the area so I see and hear alot about what is going on. Glendale will be a school all its own. They are going to get local dentists to teach the classes so there will always be someone close if you need help on anything. It is also going to be a little more friendly to the Arizona applicants. I also want to say that I have plenty of community service, probably more than the majority of students being interviewed at ASDOH. I am not bitter and I am sorry if it sounded that way. AZ was kind of a back up school for me so it was a little wierd to be rejected by my fall back school. Mesa is a great area and that is where I will be coming back to practice. I have been interviewed at three great schools and I can't wait to interview at my fourth one this week. Good luck to the rest of you and I am sorry for my attitude towards the AZ school.

Thats only if your patients fail to pay and that rarely happens from what I learned from students on my interview to Temple. Mesa is a fairly wealthy area and the majority of people can afford to go to a practicing dentist. There is a very small patient pool at ASDOH compared to other schools. This means that some students have to go looking for patients in order to get certain procedures done that they need to graduate. This info is coming from two of my friends that are third years at the school.

You'd rather spend a bunch of money flying/staying there and then be rejected? I'm happy the way things turned out

I am with you on that. I think I am going to pull my application from the rest of the schools after I do this last interview. Applying/Interviewing is sucking more money out of my pocket then I ever imagined before I got into this process. I think my work is getting a little pissed off with me leaving all the time also.
