Well, I finally purchased the product behind so much discussion (quarrels) and will be able to give an honest opinion. I started my DAT prep late, and I have been really putting in the time.

I have the DAT blue book and all the DAT flash cards and practice tests. I have two of the examkrackers books (organic chem and reading comp), Schaum's outline to biology, and all of my old texts from Gen chem, O chem, and the various biology classes. I also listen to Audio Osmosis while I'm driving/going to sleep. I will try and keep a semi-updated account of my preparation, and the overall rating for each product. I have a few other materials, but they are at home, and I'm just listing what is with my right now....

I'm proud to say I was one of the initial DAT Destroyer bashers, so hopefully I bring a "fair and balanced" view to the table 🙂 Ok, I have to get back to studying, the Destroyer should be here sometime next week...

Do you mean to tell me that you were bashing the Destroyer when you have never even used it???? Whether you like the destroyer or hate the destroyer thats up to you, but the only way you can judge whether or not something is good or true, is to try it out first. This is an important life lesson, only speak when you know what you are talking about...and the only way for you to know what you are talking about is to try it. People like you scare me. Look, whether or not you like the destroyer in the end or not that has no effect on me. But you have to realize that your bashing remarks may have discouraged other people from obtaining a tool that they could have benefitted from. Thats a lot of responsibility to shoulder without ANY KNOWLEDGE AT ALL!!!!!!!! So please let this be a lesson to all of us, myself included, bc g-d knows that I speak way too much for some1 that knows as little as i do, dont be afraid not to have an opinion. And if you wish to have an opinion, make sure to gain all of the possible knowledge that you can before speaking. You dont realize that your actions really have an effect on other people. Study the material, take the exam and then judge the product, dont just say something because you want to be different, or whatever your motivations were.
So please, post responsibly people.
It could be that you learned this lesson already, and that was your purpose for this post, in which case I salute you and this post is meant for every1 else on the board.
I hope there are no hard feelings, I just get very frustrated bc the people that I see that talk the most are usually the ones that know the least. I wish you the best of luck on your exam and with your application process.

yes quikag,
I was an original basher, when it seemed DAT Destroyer adds were popping up everywhere from people similar to you, who had between 1 and 30 posts, it seemed a little peculiar. Look at my post history to find out how I changed my tune once some of the more respected members chimed in and vouched for the validity of the destroyer.

Also, if I did influence people not to buy the destroyer, I would say they were probably not fit for d-school anyway, because in d-school you have to be a big boy or girl and make your own decisions. Don't be led to the slaughter by everyones internet recommendations, search out the facts and make your own decision.

I appreciate the sentiments at the end... 👍

biocmp, I know exactly what you are talking about. There's no doubt in my mind that a decent part of nancy's job was to create multiple users and spread the word about destroyer (I dont know if that's still going on but it surely was when destroyer came out) . Am I saying that destroyer isn't worth it? No...I've never tried it and won't buy it until I need it. It may be the best product out there and to be honest I don't blame the author or nancy for doing what they did. I do appreciate your feedback on it...so keep us posted.

I agree that the Destroyer is the best thing out there, but I just don't get people who make Nancy and Romano out to be saints.. I mean they're profiting handsomely off it, $150 for something that is essentially reworded old DAT questions.. If the ADA actually released copies of their tests (which the MCAT publishers do), I wouldn't be $160 poorer. 🙁

The destroyer is what it is, but I found it much more useful than anything else. Granted, I had a great basis and good preparation from my classes and the DAT Destroyer was a review tool more than a teaching tool, but I highly recommend it. I bought mine used for $100 and am saving it to share with friends.

IT'S HERE.....

Ok, the good, the bad, and the ugly....

The GOOD- if I can truly understand all of the material in this book, I don't see myself being able to score under a 25.

The BAD-- there is an extremely large amount of info in this book, it tests you over everything.

The UGLY-- THERE IS AN EXTREMELY LARGE amount of info in this book. I've been reading through it for 30 minutes, and it tends to make me feel bad, followed by a brief bout of anger!

To be honest, it is another tool, and it appears to have a lot of good sample problems, but I have to disagree with polf: these are not reworded old DAT questions, they are some pretty comprehensive-killer questions that will catch you off guard, if you don't know your stuff. I don't think I am even going to mess with it, until I finish all of my review, because I just don't have a chance with some of these questions.

I'll keep this up-to-date with my feelings as I move through this. Keep studying everybody...
