Hello all, I read the forums when I'm procrastinating but hardly ever post, but...

I've been having some irritating problems with Gunner Training. Their website has been freezing a whole lot lately and running extremely slow. I'm fairly tech savvy and I know its not my own internet connection. Sometimes it just loads HTML text, the interface freezes often, and sometimes the server flat out drops the connection.

I assume its due to the heavy server load they are experiencing with everyone studying for Step 1. Seeing is how the only way to contact them is with a worthless "feedback" button, here is the only place I could think of to bring my problems too.

Has anyone else experienced problems with the GT interface/servers?

As of right now, I cannot recommend GT to anyone because taking so long to load questions/freezing makes it an unacceptably slow process.

I was having similar problems yesterday, but it seems to be back on track today. Have you been having problems with it freezing today?

It was a bit slower than normal yesterday, but I haven't noticed it freezing or the text format changing. Today it seems to be perfectly fine.

I've been having intermittent problems too these past couple of weeks, yesterday as well. They used to be extremely good about getting back to me on corrections, questions etc but the past few months I've gotten zero response on anything.

It's funny because their zippy interface and their willingness to take me seriously when I had concerns were what made me so evangelical. I guess a lot changes in six months.

Everytime I answer a question I have to "reload" the webpage to get it to stop pausing while reloading the webpage. I *think* that it has to do with the GT server not responding to every "request" that is made of it, so it freezes sometimes when you click a link.

Frustrating. its impossible to fly thru review questions when youre constantly having to reload webpages.

Again, don't do gunner training right now as the servers are running very slow.

I've had some occasional problems, but nothing which made the sight unusable except for a few hours last month. Right now it's working fine for me.

I too would like to see this concern addressed here in the forums by the GT reps who post on these boards.

Hi Guys! I am really sorry GT has been slow recently.

The major problem (which lasted a day for around 10% of our members) resulted from a glitch when we tried to push a particular flashcard content improvement live. We fixed this and a few other issues but we still are far from happy with the load time and overall usability of the website.

Over the next few weeks we will be making significant improvements by improving the efficiency of our underlying codebase, upgrading our servers, etc. It's been difficult as we have continued to grow exponentially but we have looked into the issue and have a plan of attack.

Re: Response time for feedback / content suggestions / content errors - I also must apologize. As we have grown so rapidly (thanks to you all!), we have been struggling to respond as frequently as we used to. And, it didn't help that 3 of our key student editors (who do most of the responding) are M3s who just went through a grueling surg rotation. We are back on track now and have a new system that will enable us to respond faster and make the necessary improvements that you guys suggest. Thanks a lot for everything and let us know how else we can improve! You guys rock,

- Ben

Hi guys (and @Prime2000),

We also noticed that our website was down for a short while (we think it was somewhere in the range of 10 mins) yesterday and believe that it was a wide-spread DNS issue that effected a lot of other websites / the internet depending on what DNS you are on. We aren't 100% sure but are looking into it.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to apologize for a host of content mismatches that you guys may have noticed. Things like a question not matching the flashcard learning point, etc. In short, because we update our content frequently -- and because updates must make their way into people's personal review plan/calendar -- there is a whole process involved and, unfortunately, that process has a few bugs in it that are creating content-content mismatches. We are on top of it and fixing it as I type but I wanted you guys to know.

If you see any issue, please click the "feedback" button so we can fix it ASAP. We are also working on automated ways of fixing the results of these bugs, but for now we are fixing them manually. Again, deep apologies for disrupting your study schedule.

After we fix the content mismatches, our next priority is to decrease the load time for our website pages.

Thanks again for your support. Let me know if you guys have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

- Ben
