GW Interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Will anyone be attending the interview day at GW this upcoming Friday, November 21?

Responding to you here b/c I don't think everyone in that sticky thread cares to see this information:

I'm in grad school at Virginia Tech right now...GW is definitely up there on my list of choices...I also just found out I got an interview at Shenandoah too, which I'm super excited about.

I've heard that the GW interview is typically a tour of the facilities, a group interview, a group activity (I guess to see how people work together?), and an individual interview.

What about you? Heard anything else?

Good point, and congrats on the Shenandoah interview!

That's more or less what I've heard as well. I actually hadn't heard about the group activity, but I did hear there's a group interview followed by an individual interview. Do you know what the activity is like? From what other people have said, the whole day is pretty relaxed.

@kes5573 and @heaq12, how was your interview? Mine is scheduled for Dec 6th! What are your thoughts about the program? Any tips or advice is greatly welcome! I'm sure you two are happy to have it done!!

The interview was great! I really loved the program, so hopefully I'll get in!

It was very relaxed - an info session, a group interview with 3 interviewees and one professor, a group activity (what 5 things would you bring to a deserted island), a tour, and an individual interview. It was casual and pretty fun. Good luck on your interview!

Thanks so much! That makes me feel at ease, now just picking out what the wear will be the biggest thing on my agenda haha! I will let you know how it goes. I hope you hear good news soon!!

Yepp, the day was pretty relaxed. It was more formal than my previous interview at Drexel, but it still wasn't bad. I'm not a fan of group interviews but it was not very intense. You'll do fine!

Thanks @kes5573, I hope to hear good news soon from you too about an acceptance!

I'll be at the January 16 interview! (pretty sure they haven't sent out emails for this one yet, but I had to reschedule!)

@kes5573 @heaq12 I'm sure this wouldn't hurt by any means, but would it be advantageous to have a solid knowledge of the difference between OT and PT, any recent news in PT field, etc for interview questions?

They didn't ask us anything like that. I'm not sure if all group interviews were the same, but they asked us who else we think is important on the medical team (i.e. OT's, speech therapists, doctor's, psychiatrists, social workers). They also asked us the traditional question of "why PT?" I can't remember any other questions directly pertaining to that at this time, but I'll let you know if I do! A lot of the questions were more general... like who is someone that has greatly influenced you and why and if something goes wrong in a team situation who you think is responsible. I didn't prepare at all and I was fine, so I'm sure you'll do great!
