GWU alternate list

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would guess that it is not ranked because at the interview Daryl talked about sending any updates to your file and also talked about letters of interest and letters of intent. If the waitlist was ranked than these things wouldn't be very important.

I'm trying to figure out who to send an update letter to at GWU. Would the interviewers have much of role once you've been put on the alternate list? Mine seemed to be loosely associated with the school anyhow...he was a doctor from nearby hospital. Or should I address it to the dean or the Admissions Commitee?

i would just send the letter to the admissions committee in the office of admissions.

How long did it take you guys to hear back from GW post-interview? They said 10 weeks, but tomorrow it will have been 12 weeks since I interviewed! This wait is terrible!

Post-interview news took me 12 weeks. I don't understand, how come they say "Congratulations! You have been selected as an alternate" and then later on say that the chances of getting in is very high. I thought it was acceptance, but it was actually a waitlist notification.

I really liked the new hospital, school and Foggy Bottom, but expensive.

Doesn't Foggy Bottom sound like it should be in Harry Potter? Take Platform 9 3/4 to the Foggy Bottom station and then transfer to Hogwarts.

I was under the impression I'd hear something by now, but apparently not. I've been listed since october.

i posted a thread w/ the info you guys are asking about last week. it didn't get any love though 🙁 .

i was asking the same thing! when i opened up the letter and saw the words "congratulations!" my heart almost stopped! and then when i read on i wanted to shoot myself, lol. what's worst was the financial aid reminder thing they sent out recently, i don't know if you all received that or not. it was a small, thin envelope and when i grabbed it out of the mailbox i thought the worst day had arrived. but then when i opened it, i realized it was the financial aid packet, heh. whew. i guess we people who got waitlisted should be pretty optimistic, i've heard from friends at GW that many of the first year class is taken right off the waitlist, so there is in fact a great deal of movement. let's hope it works out, GW is my number once choice. good luck to all of ya. oh, and btw, it took them roughly 6 weeks to get back to me, that was back in november.

Best of luck everyone.

I got my acceptance exactly 6 weeks after my interview - 10/30 interview, 12/11 acceptance. I think the waitlist moves a lot. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you!
