GWU vs. U Minnesota

Hey guys.. I'm trying to decide between GWU and U Minn.-Minneapolis. I'm a Calif. resident and will definitely be doing the grad. assistantship program at U Minn if I decide to go there. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

isn't university of Minnesota higher ranked, and far cheaper?

anyway, I used to live in Minnesota and it was absolutely gorgeous....

I think Univ of Minn has a higher reputation in terms of research and residency rankings, but then again I've heard GWU doesn't release their info to US News and World report and as a result they dont get ranked....

i am on pre-interview hold for GWU and i have been accepted at U of MN.

right now i am totally pysched about being at MN.

what i like

med frats: cheap housing w/ many med students good support structure

city: safe yet big, plenty of movie theaters, clubs, sports

med school: it's gotten some fresh infusion of money (tobacco lawsuits). it's goal is to improve rankings. two methods it is currently applying: more out of state students, more faculty. it's also the only med school in the twin cities. thus we have access to all the hospitals in the metro area.

campus: there are lots of restaurants nearby. also we are right next to the stadium village where all the athletic events are.

ok if i think of more stuff...i'll post it.

oh I forgot to tell you one more thing...

Minnesota is home to the MALL of AMERICA...it is THE biggest mall in the entire United States...it has a total of 432 shops I think!...it was really fun, they even have a mini amusement park inside the mall with roller coaster and everything...

if u decide to go to MN, then definitely go there

Watto, I saw the hives the other week. I usually NEVER go to all age shows, but for the HIVES I made an exception. Pretty good show.

Oh-- U of MN is a pretty good school, with quite a few Cali people attending.

I graduated from the U of MN. I had a great time and felt I was in a great school. The prof's were great in my opinion, and I had a good time in Minneapolis. If your not a snowbird, you'll have to get used to the winters, but they are not terrible.
