FA says Rifampin prophylaxis in close contacts. Is this only necessary for meningitis? Or do other H.Flu infections require prophylaxis too?

I believe you've misread. It's to prophylax against Neisseria meningitidis AND H. Influenza B exposure.

I think you misread my question. Rifampin prophylaxis for close contacts of H.Flu infections or ONLY H.flu meningitis. I don't care about Rifampin use for other infections (i.e. meningococcus)

It's prophylaxis for people exposed to H. flu, not just for people exposed to people with H. flu meningitis.

Since you want to get snarky...

Why on earth would it matter if they had meningitis compared to epiglottitis or pneumonia? It's the same bacteria and you treat exposure the same way.
