Spreading the word from a friend!

SAN ANTONIO -- Senior medical students at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio are just about ready to get matched to their residencies, but not before they attempt to get on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

In a video posted on YouTube, the students re-mix the song 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams into 'Happy Matching.' Matching is a process that matches fourth-year medical students with medical residency programs.Click here to see the video on a mobile device.

"We made a video to convince (Ellen) to help us celebrate this day," said Jillian Rushing, a 2014 M.D. candidate. "For us, this is as important as graduating and is the culmination of at least 21 years of education and, for some, even more."

The students are using social media to try and grab Ellen's attention and get her to respond to the video. They created the hashtag '#happymatching' on Twitter.

Match Day, March 21st, medical students across the country discover where they will spend the next few years of residency training. At UTHSCSA, we spend the day with friends and family in a celebration of the culmination of our years of hard work and the start of our professional careers. Help us spread the word to invite Ellen Degeneres to celebrate this momentous day with us!

Lol so do we know if she (Ellen D) has responded yet?

No response yet and hooray for video reaching 11,000 views. Please share with your friends! #HappyMatching! 🙂. I'll update if there is any response.

can we stop objectifying women please. she's a person. could be your attending someday.

Oh, c'mon. He was just admiring someone being pretty. What, we're not allowed to call girls pretty (especially on the internet) anymore? He wasn't like "Yo I bet that girl puts out EZ or I'm totally gonna hit that if I see it, etc. etc."

I bet if Anasto or any other female/man-lover comes in here and finds some guy and goes "Lol 2/10 totally ugly would not bang" that'd be OK.

yeah i understand where you are coming from. But those comments directed at a fellow medical student bothered me. She's a real person too, who could be reading this thread?

Maybe more like a 6.... still WOULD though

^This is not just calling girls pretty. There is no need to continue arguing about this. You guys are all right.

I was referencing the guy who immediately replied. Didn't see the other post (directly above yours). Never mind. Carry on.

I'm part of the class that made the video (but I'm not in it because my non-existent dancing skills would have hindered the quality of the video - lol). I'm really proud of the quality of the video my wonderful classmates created and the enthusiasm and energy displayed by the participants. I encourage the jerkfaces making the derogatory comments above (if you really are medical students that understand the pressure and joy involved in the process) to actually create something themselves instead of hating.

I applaud my classmates in their originality and encourage everyone to share the video if you're excited about match day (t-minus 6 days!). Good luck to everyone enduring the anxiety leading up to match day!
