Does anyone know average scores/grades/LORS of latest match?
doprogressive said:Although fewer people are considering OBGYN as a specialty and the IMG/FMG ratio is higher in the specialty than in the past, OBGYN is still more competitive than FP or IM.
doprogressive said:Moreover, Certain programs and certain regions are still competitive within OBGYN applicants : the West, California etc...
doprogressive said:This year, the match actually was more competive than in the past, with a higher percentage of filled spots than in previous years. (Radiology had a greater percentage of unfilled spots this year than obgyn).
doprogressive said:As more women enter the feild, the lifestyle of graduates from obgyn residencies is changing. physcians are joining larger groups of 7 or 9 with call q7 or q9. thats better than a lot of other specialists. There are also large hospitalist groups in some larger metropolitan areas (shift work). The backlash from current perceptions about the specialty will take time to change. If you have USMLE scores less than 200 or 210 OBGYN may be out of your reach, and especially in areas with few numbers of residencies and desirable locations (Western US).
