I thought it would be interesting to see what people consider the hardest shelf of MS3.

Your first is the hardest. It doesnt matter what subject.

I disagree. I had the Peds shelf first, and it was one of my easiest. It also helped that a lot of the stuff was ripped straight from Step I studying.

Took Surgery 3rd and thought it was the most difficult. It will vary for everyone, though. And as lots of people will say, having the Medicine shelf before Surgery can be hepful (I had Medicine after Surgery).

Agreed. I thinks it is too variable. May sound strange but I thought psych/OB were the most difficult, I think that is largely because I hated both of these rotations. I still managed to do well on both of them, but they definitely seemed more difficult while I was taking them.

For me surgery and psych were the hardest- psych because we didn't have the neuro background (and I rushed because I was flying to visit my best friend after exam so I didn't really focus)... Surgery just sucked! I did really well on the UW questions and felt good going in but I scores just a hair below average 🙁

They definitely got easier as the year went on, but I think surgery was overall the hardest w/ the really broad range of (seemingly random) questions, as well as a high proportion of 'next step in mgmt' type questions.

Hi I was just wondering how and when you started prepping for the shelf exams. I am starting rotations and don't want to fall behind

I have Medicine first. How did you prepare?

There's like 100 page threads on which book to buy for each clerkship. Just look and you'll find out.
