Which one would help me in the MS3 clerkship as well as in Step 2?
BRS's latest version is 2004 whereas HL's is 2014. But BRS also gets a lot of good comments, so I wanted to get some advice.

Thanks

Harriet Lane is a handbook designed for reference. It's not designed to be a study guide and is, in my opinion, unlikely to prepare you for the shelf better than a book actually written with that intent...

Don't use Harriet Lane for your clerkship. It isn't a good teaching guide. You're far better off using the clerkship study materials (BRS, First Aid, Etc), because that's what they're designed for. Plus, the shelf exam doesn't change that rapidly, so having a slightly outdated book will still get you the information you need to do well.
