Harvard intensive cataract training

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I went at the end of my second year. Excellent course. Alcon brings Infiniti phaco machines and you get to practice phaco on pig eyes. Course is very intense; 8 hrs/day, I think. Lots of drinking at night though 🙂.

Has anyone gone to this and what were your thoughts on it.

i think the utility of this course depends on your surgical experience at your residency. saturday is a half-day lecture and half-day wet lab. you get to practice each step of the surgery as you carry your pig eye from OR to OR. by the end of my second year, i had done so many of each step, that i didn't learn much (and we have a wet lab that we use very often).

but the lecture part is pretty good. some good lectures on fluidics, etc. i think that on sunday (which is a half-day lecture), they give you a book on cataract surgery.

overall, it's kind of fun. you get to meet residents from around the country, see you friends from the interview trail, and enjoy the saturday night festivities. probably worth it for anyone if your program pays for you to go, and you only need to switch your call with someone.

Hey guys, what's the cost of attending this workshop? I might go to this next year.

I looked on MEEI website, saw a PDF form for registration (assuming I was looking at the right form) but it didn't include the price.
