Yeah, me too. Congrats and good luck. These interviews are starting to pile up financially and I am almost tempted to cancel one of mine to save some vacation days and money.

did they cash out your application fee? because they haven't cashed mine out yet.

Oh jeez...don't even start. This is that whole dental school thing you're applying to, the one you're stressing about and that determines your whole future. Not to mention the arrogance of bragging about your number of interviews.

Or was that a joke? 😛 😳

I don't think he is joking. If you take a look at his resume, you will find out he is one of those who can afford to do that.

Well, if he is for real, he won't get past an interview being that cocky. If he IS accepted, he'll just be another one of the people force me to explain to others that all dental students AREN'T dinguses. 🙄 At least it evens out when people get to practice....

Anyway, no one listen to him. Anyone who is truly confident doesn't have to brag about it, and you'll all get interviews and get in and graduate and be happy.

I didn't notice any hint of bragging in Shunwei's reply.

I didn't notice any bragging either. I thought the point that he was trying to make was that its expensive to fly across the country to ten different interviews. I know if I get ten interviews (knock on wood) I would have to pick and choose. anyways, just my impression.

they only accept the money orders. is it possible to check the status of the money orders?

Thanks guys for sticking up for what I really meant to say. I can tell you that I did not mean any cockiness at all. I am a research scientist who is paid poorly (like almost all of us in science) to whom a $300 airfare + $150 hotel + $50 cabfare is a lot. You multiply that by five or six and you are dealing with enough money to downpay for my used car in dental school next year. In fact, I am currently doubling as a tutor right now pulling in some extra cash to foot all of this. And this is not to mention the fact that "officially," I have no alloted vacation days and must depend on the goodwill of my PI for taking leaves. Therefore, you can see where my comment is coming from.

I'm in the same boat. I'm afraid I'll be out of job by nov/dec because my supervisor does not seem to be supportive at all. I ask about non-paid leaves and she said no. 🙁 :scared:

Seriously, screw them. If you have enough interviews that you think you'll get in, just go find another job or something (umm, assuming your current job isn't awesomely high paying and you have at least some cash saved up).

Heck, go do research for a few months or something. Much better to just straight up quit now than be fired just because you want to be a dentist.

P.S. Shunwei didn't sound like he was bragging, and this is from someone who only got accepted to one med school, so it's not like I'm not used to hearing people bragging about their interviews haha.
