I was accepted to Columbia and put down my deposit for the school. I loved my experience at the interview and it was my top choice throughout the application process. I am also very much looking forward to living in New York.
I recently got an interview at Harvard and I am wondering how the two compare? I am considering specializing, since both schools are ivy league and highly ranked, is there one that is better for specializing opportunities?
Harvard has a much smaller class size, 35, in comparison to Columbia's 80. There are pros and cons to each I believe. If you had to choose, which school would you choose?

Thank you!

Columbia in less than a heartbeat.

Both are very prestigious and have a wide amount of specializing if that's what you want to do I think 70%+ of Harvard specializes, and columbia is like 50-60%+ also. Harvards smaller size though means you may get a bit more teacher to student and comradery between students (if you care) as well as being able to say "I went to harvard"

I don't know enough about the 2 but I'd prob go to Harvard for the name alone if you advertise it as a benefit to patients (or dentists if you specialize) since everyone's heard of how prestigious Harvard is, while many haven't heard as much of Columbia except us in the dental field that research it already. Go to the interview, and if you like it more than columbia, drop the deposit and go there. Hopefully others can give more objective reasons for WHY to go somewhere but this is all I know.

Harvard does not focus on clinical skills as much from what I've heard.

In terms of specializing I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I didn't apply to Harvard but for a few personal reasons even had I applied and got in I would have chosen Columbia (barring a ridiculous scholarship offer).

My best advice is go to the interview at Harvard with an open mind and see how it compares in your gut to Columbia.
