Has anybody failed an interview?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Statistically, most interviewees are rejected. I got rejected from two of my interviews when I was an applicant. There really isn't much to talk about it, though.

In most opt schools 66 to 75 percent of interviewees get accepted.

I guess that's why a lot of people usually apply to at least 5 schools. It's expensive and can add up quickly just clicking and adding schools on OptomCAS but you gotta secure a seat for yourself and sometimes casting a wider net is the only way to feel more sure about that.

What could be possible reasons to be rejected?

No personality? Not being able to hold a conversation?

Do they ever invite a person and already have their mind made up to reject that applicant, but only invited them to meet some kind of quota?

Or are all invites a genuine interest in the applicant, whom they view as a possible candidate and are just trying to see them in person and interview them? I'm just wondering if all interview invites are sincere and genuine?

Anyone have take on this?

It's a waste of the school's time, money, and resources to invite an applicant to an interview with no intention of accepting them. At least at ICO, it's not cheap to ask an applicant to come in and interview - it's a lot of moving parts and a lot of working hours, and it really doesn't make sense otherwise.

Thanks for the reassurance Rain Clouds! Makes perfect sense when you put into perspective!
