Has anyone applied to MD/PhD after enrolling in a PhD only program??

I have a quick question. I was wondering if anyone had applied to a MD/PhD program after enrolling in a PhD program (say applying or transferring to the MD/PhD within the first year of your PhD program). If so, what was your experience and how did it work out for you??
