I have been accepted to two schools, but I'm interviewing at my top choice this week and I have a problem because one of the other schools wants a deposit by Feb 8th. I'm not sure that I'll hear back from my top choice before the deposit is due. Can you call the school and ask for them to review your application earlier??? Is that completely unreasonable? Has anyone had this problem and any advice? 😕

Send in the deposit. It is a drop in the bucket compared to how much you will pay for school, and it is an atom compared to the amount of money you will make as a doctor.

Ask the school if you can send the deposit in later. Some of the schools that accepted me are still asking for my deposit (months and months after I interviewed) when it was due long ago. Sometimes they are flexible.

Seems like you already have decided on PCOM. Did you contact each school about your decision? You need to formally withdraw applications and decline acceptances so that they can give those seats/interviews to someone else. Hopefully any unwanted requests for deposits will stop.

It won't hurt to ask if you can send the deposit later. If not, you might as well send it in.

Is the deposit for the school your second choice? As in.. if you don't get into your top, you'll definitely want to go there? You said you have been accepted to two schools, did you pay the deposit for the other already?

If your answer to the first question is yes, then pay the deposit. If it's just one of your fall-back schools then just rely on the other school for now and wait on your top choice.

If you really don't know, pay the deposit. It's better to have an open opportunity than a closed one.

And definitely try calling them to see if you can extend the deadline.

Good luck! 😛
