Has anyone placed on "hold" at UCSF heard anything back?

I know someone started a thread on being on "hold" at ucsf before, but I have a question that wasn' t addressed in the thread. Do you guys know if anybody placed on "hold" at UCSF actually got an interview from ucsf? I've heard of people getting interviews all the way up till April, but I wasn't sure whether if they were taken off the hold list or if they had submitted their apps late.

Damn... I can't believe I was placed on "hold" at three out of five UC med schools. Seriously, it just doesn't make sense...

Any thoughts?

i was placed on hold last year at ucsf and heard back in april that i wasn't selected for an interview. it is my understanding that they select people to interview from the hold list at the end of the interview season (march/april) if they haven't already selected enough people to interview.
the uc's are so slow, but being placed on hold isn't always a bad thing. i, too, was placed on hold at 3 uc's and eventually ended up getting an interview and acceptance at uci. i know uci puts tons of people on hold and does a lot of late interviewing. the majority of people in my class interviewed in march or april, and did not find out they were accepted until may or later.

bump... one more time...

so no one has gotten an interview off the hold list from ucsf, huh?damn... +pissed+

Kwanny, I suggest you try searching the SDN archives to see if anyone got off the UCSF hold the previous years. Or you can try the allopathic forum.

Thanks, Kashue.

After about 30 min of searching, I found a post from last year that might be of interest to those put on hold at ucsf....

"i would imagine they would start taking people off the hold for interview category soon, if they haven't already begun to do so yet. there are some old threads about this last year that indicate approximately 200 get put on hold, and approx 20 of those get invited for interview. chances aren't good, but it seems like it is still possible since they told us we might not know until april. wish i had more specific info. hopefully someone at ucsf will know if they've started to pull people from the hold pile or if they are going to pull people this year."

More info to come...

I found some info I saved from their website a while back. It basically said that if you're on hold for an interview, they'll only interview you near the end of the cycle if they didn't interview enough applicants. It's not great news but it's still better than a rejection. I just sent my secondary to them in the mail yesterday so I'm holding my breath as well. I really hope they interview me.

Another post from last year...

"Hold Interview
All this is too much drama for me. I called UCSF today to ask about my hold status. The lady said that within the next week they will be reviewing all who are on 'hold'. They will notify some lucky people by phone or email that they will be invited.

Hope this helps, but don't hope too much."
