Has anyone taken the NEW NAPLEX this month? December 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just took it yesterday. (Full disclosure this was my second attempt)

I feel like it was easier than the previous exam because it is no longer adaptive. That being said I still honestly think I failed. I was not prepared but felt pressured into retaking it.

I had much less ID, HIV & hepatitis than the 1st time (it was basically my entire exam) but a LOT more biostatistics which I hadn't reviewed since my 1st attempt.

Overall the new exam format seems much more balanced in the #/types of questions you get though still geared more heavily towards hospital pharmacy.

I did have a couple questions that were worded oddly and despite reading them multiple times I still wasn't sure what exactly they wanted. Unfortunately, they were fill in the blank math questions so I couldn't even use the answers as a clue for what they wanted.

***IMPORTANT*** You do NOT get the 10 minute break until you are 3 hours in. I had to use the restroom so I rushed to get 1/2 the questions done expecting to get my break but it didn't come. I almost cried! There is nothing worse for concentration than REALLY having to pee.

@KSWonTarget
hope you pass this time.I am in the same boat ,going to retake in January.
what study materials you used for the exam?.

I PASSED!!!! Woohoo!

I used RxPrep to study. I didn't watch most of the videos because they are just too time consuming but I read the majority of the book, made flash cards on important stuff I just couldn't seem to make stick, and then I did the quiz banks. I also made flashcards for questions I got wrong. I have to admit I did not go through all the flashcards I ended up making all that much (maybe 1x completely) but the act of making them seemed to help. If I had it to do again I would have made charts for all the drugs and focused on side effects which seems to be my weak spot.

@KSWonTarget- Congrats on passing!!!how long did you study per day and for how long the second time around?

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

Well I had 90 days so for the 2 months I slacked and only studied 2-3x per week for 5-6 hours (with many many breaks so actual time who knows). For the last month, I sent my husband & kid to go visit his parents (for 2 weeks) and took off from work. My intention was to spend every waking moment studying and I did for those 2 glorious weeks without anyone at home. After they got home my study time became M-F 10-4. I tend to have a short attention span and take so many breaks that 6 hours of studying might really only be 3 on a bad day.

All that being said I can't be certain how many hours I really spent studying but I made an attempt to read just about every chapter in RxPrep or at the very least do every question bank. I found writing flash cards really helped me despite never looking at most of them ever again.

@KSWonTarget, Congrats on the passing.....
......Since you done with the exam, could you please know that, in the exam, for Bio Stat calculation (ex: calculate RR, NTT, ...,.) They will say clear that they want the answer in the % or not? Because I'm confusing in doing calculation some come out in percentage, some are not....Please help.
Anyone knows? Please help
Thanks

They are very clear on what form they want the answer in.

Did anyone take naplex on January 10? What did you think of it? How many days csbp will take to send the result? Pls help and pray for me.

Hi everyone!! I just took the new naplex and PASSED!!!! Full disclaimer this was my second attempt. The first time I did rxprep through the school and got the videos. However, as someone previously stated, the videos are so time consuming and I felt the instructors were all over the place and I couldn't focus.

The second time around I purchased the pass naplex now course for 950$. Even though this was a huge expense at the time I owe passing to this program!! The instructors are amazing!!!! They keep the material short and concise and my favorite part is the books they ship to you are in PowerPoint form which is exactly like pharmacy school. The videos take 56 hours and cover all the pertinent NAPLEX material. They send you a coursebook, a test Bank booklet (also an online quiz bank), charts for the disease States and a biostats book. I highly recommend this program. I completed the book in a week and a half and spent a week just studying before taking the exam.

I feel the new exam is so much more straight forward and the math isn't as intricate as previously. Even the biostats section was more simple. With the update even though the length has increased the content remains the same.

The one ten minute break was absolutely miserable. When the increased the exam they should have added another ten minute break!!

Good luck on your exams!!
