Hello,

I did average on step 1, and feel that many of the concepts from first aid step 1 seem to be useful for the types of questions I'm seeing in UW. I am thinking about going over the systems parts of FAStep1 and micro section one time. I am also using MTB and SUST and uworld.

Has anyone used FA for Step 1 for step 2 study? If so, what has been your experience; would you recommend it?

Your advice is very appreciated!

Major waste of time. If you want a good micro review, USMLE Step 2 Secrets has an infectious disease section. Otherwise UWorld does an excellent job covering what you need to know.

Use USMLE World and pick a Step 2 book and stick to it.

Holy crap do not use FA step 1. Step 1 ad Step 2 are NOTHING alike.

Thanks!! Soo glad I asked.
I'm also weakest in obgyn, and feel less confident about respiratory and cardiac physiology as well . Any Tips on sources for those because none of the resources I'm using have given me much confidence
thanks so much!!

In addition to the previous last post - what about reviewing just the physiology / pathophysiology explanations of Step 1 UW? Thoughts on that?

Are you implying that the explanation discussions cover most of what needs to "refreshed" from that?

I understand CK is a different exam regarding what's being asked/tested, but some classmates have mentioned there were concepts that did pop up from systemic path/pharm/physio, which were very helpful in answering a small number of the questions.

Despite paying another month subscription, they mentioned that by reading ONLY the explanations from the UW Step 1 portion of those topics (not every subject), was really helpful for getting that in a week's time... rather than going through some of the basic science review books or first aid.

I didn't too hot on step 1 and need to improve and do well for CK and was considering just some of their advice on sections for basic concepts that I wanted to brush up on. Since some of you have taken the test or are nearly completed with the CK UW questions, it was nice to hear some SDN opinions.

Do whatever you want, you don't need to justify anything here.I am just saying that my entire test covered concepts from USMLE World Step 2. For me, Step 1 studying is nothing but a waste of time.

Cardiac and respiratory physiology are heavy on principles, and if you don't understand those principles, you should go back to a real textbook until you understand them, rather than try and learn them from a book like First Aid.

I see no role for Step I FA in preparing for Step II.
