I'm originally from Rhode Island so I've been brainwashed to belive these are the best places pretty much anywhere... Can anyone tell me more about them from a medical point of view? Good places to set hopes on interning/residency?

I loved this place! When I interviewed, I stayed with a couple Med/Peds folks who met up with 8 interns/residents on a Wed. nite for dinner. Their interactions together were like high schoolers- in a good way! They got along like they've known each other for 15yrs. It was so refreshing to see this! Everyone was genuinely interested in who I was, what I wanted in a residency and willing to answer honestly.

The hospital itself is beautiful with state of the art electronic everything- orders, lab reports, imaging, even vitals! The residency director is an open minded UCSF-residency grad who is young and brings lots of energy to the place. A couple interns gave one of the most entertaining noon conferences on post-partum depression, throwing out candy for correct answers and included hilarious imitations of 'Brooke Shields vs. Tom Cruise' 🙂

overall loved this place. I went with warm weather, friends to rank UCSF, UCLA and Hopkins above it but I have very little bad to say about it!

Actually your reply makes me happy because I am feeling a little homesick lately and I had forgotten about this question. When I saw your answer it made me feel a little better because I think as long as it is a good hospital (which I had heard but Rhode Islanders can be extremely biassed- call it the small state syndrome, a lot like short and bald man syndrome), I would love to have that be my elective term abroad option. 😀
