Hash markings on clear cover of counting trays?!

Nobody knows. Seriously. I have asked many pharmacists, there have been threads on it before in the past, it's just a mystery. Best guess is it's some way to figure what vial size to use, with the non-linear scale factoring in the growing circumference/volume of vials. How to actually use it though? Dunno.

It tells you what dram size to use. How do you use the scale? No idea.
Count out pills. Turn over in chute. Find number at top of pills and double. That should be the dram size vial to use.
 
If that's true, why aren't the numbers already doubled?
because we are supposed to be smart enough to figure out the "code" Kinda like latin sig codes. We use them to the trick the public 🙂
