Hating dental school

Thread from the dead!

For real though, I still have nightmares of being a student again. Must've been traumatic enough to be burned into my head. I think the most mentally traumatic part was studying for the exams and fear of failing/wasting a year/failing out/seeing the material again. BUT... I think we can credit dental school for the level of mental intensity that's required of us. Although they need to make it more physically demanding. Many dentists lack stamina, want lunch breaks, and bunch of vacation time.

Everything is relative. I agree DS was stressful, but ortho residency with a total class size of 4 was double the stress. For whatever reason ... I breezed through DS. No issues. Maybe I was in a good environment. Midwest DS. Great college football team. Small class size. Played golf and tennis on the weekends with a fellow student (helped to lessen the stress). Even had a PT job my 4th yr DS. Sure. DS is stressful, but .... be practical about it. It's not life or death stress. Just buckle down and get the job done. Avoid unnecessary class politics. It's a short 4 yrs.

In ortho residency (hospital program). It was double the stress. 4 residents. No where to hide lol. All of a sudden ... the reality of the situation is that you are a DOCTOR and you have to perform. Tasks were real. DS seemed just like ..... well school.

DS is just a small step onto the rest of your life. Try to keep it in perspective.

Yeah, I can only imagine. At least in dental school, you can be student_00x and hopefully faculty never remember who you are.
