Hey guys, so I have 3 interview invites from GW, Loyola and UMass (im a MA resident). I already been rejected from 20 others and i really do not think the next 5 schools i have the secondary for will accept me (EVMS, Creighton, BU, West Virgina and Vermont). Should i just withdraw from them and bank the cash on my three interviews (plans, hotels etc.)? I'm gonna have a hard time working on the secondaries and its already really late to send them which will lower my chances even further.. what do you all think?

EDIT; should this be the chances thread?

Until you have that first acceptance in hand, you shouldn't turn down anything. You've come this far, might as well just go through with the remaining five to see what happens. Otherwise if you don't get into any program, you will always have that nagging feeling of "what if".

You've already been rejected from 20 schools? That's crazy. And no, I wouldn't withdraw from those schools, man up and finish the secondaries. If you don't have ties to West Virginia then don't bother; BU is highly selective as well, but I would still complete the secondaries.

I'm no expert, but I'd go ahead and submit the 5. And start thinking about what it is that caused the denials from the 20. Perhaps something you can work on to increase chances at the schools you haven't submitted secondaries and the ones you are interviewing at.

For example if it wasn't sufficient shadowing, work on finding someone to shadow so you can at least have something started in the direction of helping you out.

Plus, you didn't give much info other than schools. MCAT? GPA? ECs? Things like that can help us advise you better.

Anyway, :luck:

I didn't even know that many schools handed out straight rejections this early. I've only heard accounts from maybe 5-7 tops.

Further, to be immediately offered an interview at three means that OP is very competitive, yet to be immediately rejected by even a few schools means that OP has a red flag or is not competitive. In any case I have a hard time believing the story.

Unless the OP applied to a bunch of schools where he/she has no chance due to state ties requirements, I completely agree.

Have you been rejected or have you just not heard from them OP?

If its the former, wow. If the latter, you just have to wait some more 🙂

In either case, I would not rest all your hopes on just the three interviews. If money is not THAT tight, I would still send in the last secondaries.

according to other posts OP says he has a 3.8 GPA but a very very low MCAT
