Yes, yes, yes, and not soon enough.

Yes, yes, yes, and not soon enough.

I keep waiting for the programs to show more interest in me. Maybe send me something saying they really really want me.

i have only heard from one program i interviewed with...i would love to hear from more but i am going to try not to let it affect my list. mine is certified but i will likely change it around a little....

Certified, and not going to change it.👍

Same here. I kept a running list all season long (along with a running review of programs). After every interview, I just decided where the school went relative to the other ones up to that point. I rarely made any changes to this list once a program got assigned.

When I was finished with all the interviews, I just looked it over once more to make sure it really reflected my true feelings and hit "Certify".

Certified, but I am leaving the option to make minor changes open. We'll see what happens.

I don't anticipate any major changes to my list, though.

I took detailed notes at all of my interviews. It is only somewhat helping me to decide. My problem is the ongoing battle in my head btw choosing a super duper name school, or living someplace super duper (ha ha, super duper). I have made 30+ rank lists over the interview season. Now I am mostly having problems with the ordering of my top 5. 🙁:scared:😡

Residency is a significant chunk of your life. Go where you will be happy and enjoy yourself not where you can massage your CV. I would not be happy right now if I had chosen Boston or Baltimore just to improve my CV

I have been changing my list here and there, mainly trying to figure out if I should rank #'s 2 and 3 based on weather and the city itself or the place I liked best. I'm trying to consider my significant other in this decision, but I really liked a certain place that he's not really hyped on...decisions...🙁

Dudes/dudettes,

Don't you guys have until the 2/27 to finalize and certify your rank lists??!? Don't sweat it. You guys are worrying way too much about this way too far ahead of time. You're going to get ulcers. You've got much more stressful things to come in your life. This is small potatoes. So, just relax, go with your gut, and chill. It's all going to work out fine. Sure, I was a stressball when I went through this process in '05 but, man, you guys are taking it to the extreme.

And, remember these solemn and wise words of advice: Graduation then Contiki cruise to the Mediterranean. Spend as much time there as possible thinking as little as possible about medicine. Trust me on this one.

Ditto to that. Amen, brother. 😀

Went to Eios island in Greece summer vacation after MSI.

I blew my orbit out and broke my nose upon arrival there from the ferry. Did it inter-tubing with my brother and 2 irish blokes. Got a ride to some "doctors" office on the back of his Ninja. He put my nose together with two sticks, gave me a pat on the back, and sent me on my way.

Got back to the Hotel. 2 greek guys who owned the place started KICKING MY BROTHERS A$$ becase we wanted to stay longer even though the hotel had booked the room for other folks. They hung him over stairs and kicked him in the ribs.

I could barely see out of my good eye, got some sort of BS port authority greek cop dudes. They basically called me and my brother stupid americans. Next fairy is SOLD OUT. Now way out till at least tomorrow....got on a bus. Girls took pity on us. Stayed in their hostel. Had to walk through FIELD OF DONKIES to get to hostel. I slept under a table in the 90degree heat and humidity. Stayed for 2 days under that table. Waiting for fairy for days. Got very very very very sick. Almost meningitis from the orbital blow out. At the port with the fairy arriving some 8 year old greek kid walks up to us, kicks our bags, and calls us "****** Americans." Finally got fairy, my brother had to hold my hand and lead me around at this point because I was so sick. Getting lethargic, got an emergency plane ride home. Saw JESUS on plane flight because I was hallucinating from my impending CNS crisis.

Went to Northwestern immediately. CT scan of noggin shows pus filled sinus. ER Doctor says I'm lucky. Antibiotics saved my live. Had my orbital fracture and nose repaired. Now I only have double vision when at the maximum edge up my field of vision when looking up or down. Almost lost my eye. Nice eh?

Sweet!

Don't go to Greece
. They hate americans. I did enjoy Mykonos. Wicked clubs and massive beach parties. Heard the same about Eios, but never made it to any of em. Just glad to be alive.

Worst memory of trip: "doctor" gave me a bottle of codeine syrup to drink because he didn't have antibiotics for all the puss dumping out of my split ethmoid and maxillary sinus' into the back of my throat. I slammed the bottle and passed out at a bus stop. I woke up to some kid poking me with a stick.

Go to Thailand or Vietnam.

You paid to ride a Greek "FAIRY".:laugh::laugh: No wonder you needed antibiotics!

/I have a ton more jokes about your fairy riding, but I'll keep the rest to myself

Don't go to Greece.

Let me guess. You didn't do an organized tour, like Contiki, did you?

It's no work going the way I'm suggesting, my friend. They bring the lovely little eager British birds right to you, in fact. 🙂

Oh Gawd -- I went on a 3 week Western European Contiki tour the summer after my M1 year. I didn't know that the tour would focus mainly on drinking and hooking up with other tourists.

My friend and I had boyfriends we left at home and had wanted to go to Europe to do some sightseeing, shopping, and relaxing on the French Riviera.

Little did we know that we'd end up getting trashed at a Bierhall in Munich and me impressing drunk Greek tourists with my limited Greek of "Yassa Yaya" (which means Hello Grandmother), having a little bit too much fun at the Grasshopper in Amsterdam and missing the last bus to the hotel and then getting on the wrong bus and almost being assaulted by some Dutch dude who claimed to be a policeman named "Bob."

I think Contiki is fun if you are younger and single. Perhaps if you are looking to hook up with other horny people. I would not recommend it for those who have significant others who will not be going with them or for married couples.

Oh and as far as my rank list....certified and done. Didn't end up ranking my favorite place as my #1, but that's what happens when you're "attached." Honestly, I would love to end up at any of my top 6 and I trust that whatever happens was meant to happen. Good luck!

And, your point is? 😉

You wrote FAIRY, when you meant FERRY. I am dating myself but in the early 80's. A GREEK FAIRY, was the polite way of saying someone is a homosexual. There use to be a lot of Greek and Fairy jokes which both meant the same thing. Maybe if you were 20 years older and it was a different time your post would be hysterical. Best of luck!
