When I interviewed at MetroHealth, one of the interns I think said he matched there on his... 5th? Maybe even 8th rank. I know it had to have been as far down as 5 because I was pretty shocked, but come to think of it it sounds like more 7th or 8th. I was definately wowed. Most people I meet on my interviews said they matched at numero uno or dos.

I've only heard of matching at spot #3. I was actually surprised to hear a couple of residents at U of Maryland matched that low.
Since I'm ranking 11 spots, if I match as low as 8 or 9 I'll still be relatively happy. Which is relative to not matching scrambling for a prelim spot and entering the match again next year.

There's a guy at SUNY-Buffalo now and a guy at Mt. Sinai that both ranked the program they're each at, at #5.
What's ironic is that they were classmates at the same school.

The lowest that I heard was 5, but the resident who said this was on the strange side, so maybe that was the reason.
Let me tell you that I didn't hear much on this subject during interview day. Who knows who is telling the truth anyway?
I think that we should do some sort of survey after match day, to help the 3rd years and to put some myths to rest.

I here solemnly vow to tell thee how far down I went on my ROL.
Hilarious....but, we really could do a poll. i think it would be interesting to see out everything comes out...plus, that way no one should be paranoid of revealing their match #.
only one other problem- most people don't post anyway...oops
A good friend from med school got his #7 choice. He had great boards and great preclinical grades but his clinical grades were so-so. In any case he's about as happy as he ever is and he got the job he wanted.
