Hi all,
I am considering going to school at NECO in the fall, but I have a question about having a car in Boston. I am working right now to save some money for school. Well, after six months of taking the bus, I'm kind of thinking it's time for me to find a car for work. But then again if I end up going to Boston, how realistic would it be to drive over there? I am concerned about affordability and parking. I don't want to spend money on a car and then have to find how to get rid of it later... So, I am kind of in a dilemma right now, because I live in Southern California, and it is slightly difficult to live like this. Also, my work wants me to start my day earlier now, in order to coordinate with another lady who gets in at 6 am. But mainly I am just tired of taking a bus anymore. Even the bus driver told me that I should find a car! Should I look for something that runs, or something that will last through four years? Or maybe I should just stick it out for another couple of months. I really don't know.
I would really appreciate suggestions or comments. Can someone who has lived at NECO tell me what it's like to drive over there? Actually anyone's opinions are welcome. -bus-rider

If I were you, I would just stick it out for a couple of months. When I went to NECO for an interview, I asked them if I should bring a car there, and they told me that a car is more of a hassle than a convinience because there is no parking lot for students at the school and all the parking around the school is metered. So that means you would have to go outside every two hours to put in more quarters. Also, the traffic is horrible. So, I would just take a bus for another four or so months and not worry about getting a car.

bringing a car to boston is a hassle. depending on where you live, you will either have to pay for a spot, hope you get a non resident spot, or switch your plates and park in residents parking, and also hope you can find a spot. parking by school is $0.25 every half hour, and you have to move it every 2 hours. generally not worth it at all unless you are only at school for a little bit, which is very rare as a 1st year. the public transportation system in boston is pretty good.

stick with the T. A car is a hassle and paying $250 month for the convenience of a parking spot is, well, a pain.
