I am a premed sophomore in college. I am just curious about whether having medical training means the same as doing residency. This question arose when I came across a doctor at a university whose bio said she has medical training in both neurosurgeon and cardiology and she is also an MD-PhD. Is this doable considering the fact that both specialties are difficult and require many years.

Doubt she did those residencies. That would mean she did 3 years IM, 3 (?) years Cards, 5 (?) years neurosurg.

I don't think its impossible. How old was she?

If someone actually completes a residency they're not going to say they've got "medical training" in the specialty. Also, as people already pointed out, the time involved make residencies/fellowships to get you to neurosurg & cardiology make the combo excessively unlikely. BTW: neurosurg is 6/7 years.
