ummmm a random question i picked up somewhere....

an adult's Hb is 98% sat. w/ O2 but arterial O2 is decr. the most likely reason is:
a. anemia
b. a-v shunt
c. hi alt. hypoxia
d. pulm diffusion defect
e. hemoglobinopathy

Well, if the hemoglobin that is present is saturated, but the O2 CONTENT is DECREASED...there is an overall decrease in hemoglobin levels, caused by ANEMIA! (A)

In anemia, saturation is still normal, while Hb levels are low
