My health professions association collects all LORs from my professors on campus. The professors won't write a LOR unless it goes to the health profession association. The health professions association said that they don't send LORs to AADSAS and that the AADSAS is aware of that. They said that they will send the letters directly to the schools after I receive a secondary application.

Will dental schools send out secondaries without my LORs? Should I just have my LORs sent out to all the schools I applied to before I even get a secondary (I'm waiting until I have an AADSAS # before I do). I've heard from some dental students that the admissions committee won't even look at some applications until your file is complete.

contact the schools ... generally it's acceptable to send LOR's directly to the school when requested.

But ... your school should send it to AADSAS ... if they won't, raise hell and they pretty much have to ...My prehealth assn collected my letters of recs and sent them to whoever i wanted and they generally put them in a fedex envelope and gave them to me to mail ...

anyways.
1. contact the schools and ask if that's ok to send direct to them.
2. contact the dean if they won't send the letters.

It seems a little odd that your Health Professions Assoc. doesn't just make it easier (and cheaper) on itself and just send them to one place, rather than 5+ for each applicant. Do they have issues with AADSAS or something of the sort?

In any case, I think CJWolf gave some great advice.

when i applied, my health professions committee was the exact same way. i was worried at first that my application would be delayed, but all the schools that i applied to sent me secondaries (the ones that had them) before receiving my LORs.

after hearing all the horror stories of how things got sent so slowly through aadsas, i actually had more faith that my health professions committee had sent things to the schools.

i know it's kind of weird to do it that way, but everything went well with me and if your school is on top of things, i wouldn't worry too much about it. the good thing about it is that you're applying pretty early and even if the schools don't review your app until it is totally complete, you'll get them early enough to send them right back.

good luck with your app cycle!
