I was thinking about this recently and out of curiosity...has anyone ever heard of an MA level program in health psychology? Any that could potentially lead to licensing? Im not personally interested in doing another degree, but just curious for future reference in case anyone ever asks me about it.

I am not aware of any master's level health psychology programs that lead to licensing. Typically, a health psychology Ph.D. degree will lead you to a career in research. There clinical psychology program with a specialization in health psychology. I know there are a couple of Ph.D. programs that offer a "health psychology specialization" within their clinical program. Rutgers University is one.

The APA health psychology division website has a list on their site of all the schools that offer a degree in health psychology, both non-clinical and clinical degrees.

I do not know of any MA in psych programs, but there are several social work programs that focus on health. Many people then get a license and work in medical settings at hospitals helping with discharge planning, etc.

Health Psych is generally considered a sub-speciality (at the doctoral level) for clinical/counseling psychology, so I'm not sure if a program is available. Unfortunately there are programs out there (including legit universities) that peddle "speciality" psych degrees at the MA/MS level (e.g. Forensic Psych, Health Psych, etc), though they seem to exist to fund doctoral programs. I would be very wary of any such program because those specialities are meant to be studied AFTER having a solid basis of doctoral training as a psychologist.

I think this is true for most, though there is a substantial minority of health psychologists who trained in social and personality psychology and function primarily as researchers and educators.

University of Michigan-Dearborn has a Clinical Health Psychology Program for the Master's Level.
