Are we required by law to have our information on healthgrades website? I saw some of my personal info there, part of which is incorrect, but I asked them to take my personal info out and they said that they would not. Is this a requirement or something?

Healthgrades is a private company. It's not affiliated with any gov't entity. So, you have no responsibility to do anything with them.

But, all the info that they post is publicly available. So, you can't ask to be removed.

You can create an account and then edit your information. I haven't done so, so I don't know how much of it is editable.

Resurrecting an old discussion rather than creating a new one.
How do you feel about sites like healthgrades?
Leave it alone, ignore it or log in and correct all false info? What are the consequences of ignoring all the false info about us there?
Some people actually posted their photos there too.

I'm on it. My location is listed in the wrong state. They also have the wrong specialty listed. I have no patient comments. I could not care less.

It is private, so there are no consequences except that people reading it may get incorrect information.

I would never bother correcting anything on it unless (1) it was defamatory-type information such as claiming I had malpractice claims when I don't, or (2) I were going into private practice and had a financial interest in my public perception.

However, take breeze through the internet sometime. There are a lot of these sites. And interestingly in my case, all of them repeat the same incorrect information, which suggests to me that they are feeding off each other. It is also interesting to me that my correct info (practice address, specialty, etc) are all publicly available on my state medical board's website. And yet they post incorrect information.
Have you updated your NPI? I've found they pull from the NPI database at least on first pass.

I've actually had information on Healthgrades and Vitals corrected.

Similar to @Tired 's experience I find some of the lesser sites with a lot of misinformation but its not standardized (on some I'm an oncologist, on others a general surgeon doing Gallbladders, etc.). I do correct them even though it was minor stuff (like one had me speaking Hindi; even my business partner doesn't speak Hindi) because:

1) I'm that type of person
2) Patients look at these and I want it to be correct for them

This probably matters more if your patients are choosing you as an outpatient specialist, whereas I can imagine for me and my ER folk (and maybe some handful of inpatient docs) it doesn't make any difference whatsoever. You don't get to choose your ER doctor.

Those places get info from your state medical board so if you didn't realize that stuff was public when you got your first license you may find your personal phone on there. Claiming the account to change it is the way to go for that sort of stuff or if you are in private practice and want it to be totally accurate.
