Ha. call me bitter because I didn't get in last year.... but plan on them playing games. During a presentation the director gave while I worked at UTSW he explicitly stated something along the lines of "High gpa and mcat are what can get you free med school tuition"... as if the point of the program was to score free medical school.... I think any applicant getting into this for the right reasons knows this should not be the case and its a bit disgusting to hear a DIRECTOR say this. UTSW is in an awkward place- it wants to be Harvard but just doesn't have the name or facilities and is willing to do whatever it takes to make it there. They (even last year) claim that they "enroll approximately 15 outstanding students" per year. Guess what? They only have a class of 7 people this year and its not a result of having too many unqualified applicants. Are they being dishonest about the ammount of funding they have to make themselves more appealing and reputable? I thought so. Don't sweat not hearing great news from them. There's a lot to love about the school but they definitely have a sketchy side.
