Helicopter Lawsuit

Airplane Lawsuit is like killing a asa 1 mother of 3 on ob with failed airway.

helicopter company has no chance
 
I would wager it is more about getting the discovery than money.
 
Today was Kobe Bryant's and his daughter's public memorial service. It was nationally televised. I find it amazingly bad judgement and coarse that the lawsuit was filed prior to this and not waiting a decent interval of time.

I don’t see what the big deal is. When you make a deadly mistake you deserve to pay the consequences. Folks pay when there’s a car accident, we pay when there’s a bad medical outcome due to medical error, etc. Why should this be any different?

I responded to a post that said this would settle for the insurance limits. I'm pretty certain she isn't interested in obtaining the cash from a settlement.

Agreed. I just think that it is a little sleazy to do it within a few hours of the memorial tribute.

You know what, good point. I’m going to backtrack a bit.

I certainly didn’t think she owed anyone a “cool down” period. Full stop. Buuuuuut, there is some validity to questioning the notion that the amount of time it took to put the lawsuit together just so happened to coincide with the increased coverage of the memorial service

The pilot already made the ultimate sacrifice for his failure, his death. He paid his debt in full. FAA will find the root cause of his errors. This lawsuit will do nothing and solve nothing. It was tasteless to sue on the day of her husband and daughter memorial and to sue the pilot’s estate!

Exactly. There waz no malice or apparent recklessness in what happened. he made reasonable decisions given the circumstances. The decision ultimately cause him to die as well. A terrain proximity device would likely have made a difference, for which the helicopter company should be held responsible.
 
You mean to tell me someone else died? The only coverage of any deaths have been all about Kobe. God bless all the others who were largely forgotten.
 
She lost her child and husband, on the same day. With the kind of grief she’s feeling and the amount of money she has at her disposal, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see the helicopter mechanics, air traffic controller, CEO and anyone else remotely involved in the crash suddenly start disappearing one by one.

Patently false, ESPN did a whole special on the baseball coach. I don't know how anyone could be upset at her filing suit. Even if I was Jeff Bezos, I would sue the hell out of the helicopter company if they killed my wife and daughter in a crash.

Agreed, people may say it's tasteless, but perhaps the goal of the lawsuit is to ensure changes occur. That way a year from now someone else doesn't die because the same issues came up.

That is pure conjecture on your part. For all you know, Kobe asked him not to and he reassured him it was safe. You have no idea.

Exactly. Even more reason the families should sue. If the pilot went against protocol just to please a celebrity. And unless there is damning evidence that Kobe threatened the guy to fly him, there's really no way to put the blame on him.

Well, the guy who made the mistake paid with his life. But I guess that's not a big deal.
