No, it's not one of those threads, I just titled it that because it would make everyone read it.
The competition is: Who has the best looking bird. In all my interviews, I must say that Duke has the hottest helos.

Can anybody beat that?

Duke has some nice birds (residents don't fly on them as team members though). Michigan's Survival Flight also has some nice birds (Bell 430's).

Dukes birds (same little Italian ones as Madison Wisconsin) are too small. While I like Mayo's BK-117s (designed for the EMS mission) they a too utilitarian to call "pretty". Cleveland's (MetroHealth) S-76s have to take this prize!

I'd have to agree about Duke's birds. They're so hot that I actually brought mousepad from med school with them on it to use here in the UC helipad and it's still there. Blue is just pretty.

Keep in mind that those Dauphins are side load (annoying as heck) and don't carry residents. 🙂 But they are damned pretty.

Our BKs are awesome to work in but just not as glamorous (don't tell our pilots I said that though). Have you seen UM's? Their Bell 430s aren't as hot as Duke's Dauphins but do come pretty close.

These look hot, but aren't truly designed just for patient transport.
I bet they could outrun most transport services (ok, maybe not fixed wing).

Those Coast Guard helicopters are the Agusta 109 powers fitted with a hoist. Univ of Wisconsin and Duke fly them. They are one of the fastest EMS helicopters

Cinci's has BK-117's. They might not be the prettiest, but no other program will give you as much legitimate flight experience with a significant amount of scene responses as theirs will during residency.

You're absolutely right - my bad... I thought Duke flew Dauphins but was wrong. UChicago (the OTHER UC) does though.

Umass had an awesome helicopter. It's the successor to the BK117.

Also a legitimate required flight experience, but only about 15% scene responses.

I have to give the edge to UM for their flight suits too, Cinci's are nice but the navy blue and maize is awesome. UMass had fruity red suits.

St. V's-Toledo flies Dauphins and Agustas.
