Hi,

I've been using this website for a few months and wanted to make an account so I might be able to contribute something back down the road. I'm not sure I would have been able to self study without the information and support of the people who post on these boards.

SN2ED (hope I spelled it right) - If it wasn't for his 3 month study thread I would have had to pay thousands of dollars for a prep course. Another invaluable source of support was coming here and reading everyone else's trials and tribulations to help me put things into perspective every time I bomb a practice test and go into panic mode.

I'm a non-traditional applicant. Work full time. My B.S. is in business and I took all my science reqs at a community college at night. I've been following the 3 month plan since Jan 1st and I take the MCAT on April 11th. I would like to get some people's opinion on something: I took my first 2 FLs (3R and 4R) and I got a 28 on the first and a 22 on the second. That was really demoralizing. Should I postpone? I took the second after work and not in the right state of mind. VR is my strong section and I got an 8 when I'm very consistently getting at least a 10. The PS and BS concern me, I'm all over the place. Usually an 8 -9. To make a long story short, should I post-pone the test?

You may want to post-pone the test until you are making at least 30s on the practice tests.

short answer-yes. do not take a test if you do not feel confident and have not yet reached your goal target score...especially with so little time left to go before your exam.

Thank you md and kk. I think I will. Sunday I'm going to take my 3rd full length, I'll shell out for a newer CBT and if I'm not pleased I will reschedule. The thing is I was very optimistic with the 28. I figured in a month I could up it 2 or 3 points and be content with that. In typical fashion of this whole study experience any cautious optimism is immediately crushed with the next test around the corner. I'm still chalking that last test as a fluke, something just wasn't "jellin" that day.

Oh, and goft, I'm not sure if that was sarcasm but I'll take it at face value 😉

Your welcome.

You're**

FTFY 🙂

But on a serious note, to answer the OP's question, I would probably postpone as well. You do want to feel at least somewhat confident going into the test. Confidence and state of mind is pretty much important in all aspects of life.

You still have a month until your exam, try to beef up those scores!

Just to follow up, I took my third FL (5), and scored a 26. PS:8 VR:10 BS:8. I'm just going to roll with it. I have another 5 FLs to go and if my score is still the same after reviewing everything then I'm beyond help.

I wish I could change the thread title.

Anyways, I wanted to post another update. I took 7 CBT followed by 6R and got the following:

8 PS 11 VR 8 BS - 27
8 PS 11 VR 9 BS - 28

The gold standard Bio videos had a big role in that one point jump. I highly recommend for someone who has a weak bio foundation like me. I still have no idea where that 22 came from 😕
