Hi there...

I am not sure if this is the right place to introduce myself, but I seem to fit in here 🙂

My name is Julia and I am 26 years old. I have been in the correctional field for awhile... Well... I am really burned out by it and have had some big changes in my life, which made me realize that life is too short to not try and live your dream.

I was always the odd ball... wanted to be an anesthesiologist when all my friends wanted to be dancers and [insert] what little girls want to be when they grow up. I was always told though that I should not bother (as a girl) and I would not be able to make it anyway. Well... but if I don't try I will never know right?

So here I am... I am just trying to figure out which way to go and what move to do next. I am at the beginning of a long journey... but for the first time in a long time, I feel very excited and also scared.

I hope you will find helpful information on this website. I think it offers a lot of great advice and a support system for people that may be new to the field. Just remember to take all the advice here with a grain of salt - you'll learn quickly who some of the reliable posters are and who thinks they know what they are talking about. If you can get yourself an advisor, whether private or the one at your school, as a sounding board and guide. Finally, if you need to do a post-bac or SMP, take a look at the stickies in the post-bac section.
