help about termination of employment

I am in the process of finalize and negotiate the contract with my employer. the contract stated that dentist need to give a written notice to employer 90 days before termination of contract, but the employer only give a written notice to dentist 14 days before termination of contract.
do you think this is reasonable? if it is not, what is reasonable or common time period for termination (2 months)?

That is not reasonable. Try to do two months for either scenario.

Actually that is not unreasonable, unless you don't work in an at-will state. In my state, employers can terminate you anytime they want, for any reason they want, on the spot, while also demanding long notice period for themselves that put you in limbo. I think a 14 day notice for your part is not too bad. Assuming that you don't work in a saturated market, 14 days should get you some traction in looking for a new position.
 
It's really quite simple, speaking from the perspective of an employer. If I have an employee come to me and tell me that they're leaving and moving on, regardless of what their contract may say about x number of days notice prior to leaving, I'm more than likely going to want them out of my office quickly! Unless that employee is leaving because say a spouse is being transferred to another city for their job, the reality is that the employee leaving is doing so because they either don't like what's going on in my practice or have found a better opportunity elsewhere, at which point that employee won't be doing very much "good" service to my practice since they're likely to be either bad mouthing my practice to patients or spending more time talking about how much better their new practice seems to current patients of my practice. Both of which I don't want.

2 to 4 weeks notice tops is what I'd want the vast majority of the time
