Hello,
I am an international student currently attending a US university and was wondering if it is hard to go to podiatry school as an international student like it is in dentistry and medicine. Thank you so much!

international student here. i am 4th year and am awaiting for match day. After the "residency crisis" , spots for international graduates with US work visa sponsorship became pretty difficult. it is not only me, but consensus with other international students as well. You might be better going off with dental route where there is no residency issue

Hey! I am an international student not from Canada. I know it is easier for Canadians. For medical and dental school you need to show the proof of payment for school for all 4 years, on the debit card. There also no financial support for internationals in MD programs or in DO. However, DPM is much more open. You need to show proof of payment only for the first year. Also they give A LOT of money, if you get high MCAT and GPA, you can get at least half of the tuition covered. Regarding the residency, the problem is that many Residencies do not accept international students (only green card or citizens). Here is the web page that shows which programs accept international students and sponsor visas. Most programs in NYC, NJ accept international students. Personally, main reason I went to Podiatry is because I am an international student. It is much easier to get in with scolarship, and pay for podiatry school. The only issue, you can practice podiatry only in US, Canada, Australia and Dubai. England has podiatry, but you cannot do surgery. So think if you plan to stay in the US, it is not a bad idea.
