I am a sophomore at a small liberal arts college and as you all know the MCAT is changing in 2015 to include Biochem and Social Sciences. If I take the 2014 MCAT in January 2015, I will have everything except Cell and Molecular Biology, P. Chem (thermo), and Physics II; but I am planning on taking a Kaplan Review course and studying like hell. So should I take the 2014 MCAT or wait and take the 2015 MCAT? My next question is I know that medical schools will be able to see both MCAT scores, so would it behoove me to take it more than once? Is there negative consequences for taking it twice? Even if you show improvement? Thanks for your help!!!!!!!

My major concern is that I won't have Physics II (magnetic fields, electricity ect.) for the MCAT in January 2014 but I will for the 2015 MCAT.

The MCAT is a test you do not want to take more than once. Plan on doing your best on your first try. I can't imagine why you would want to go through studying for it more than once.

E&M is self-teachable, but the abstract concepts might be challenging if you don't have a good Physics foundation already. If you don't feel ready to take it by January 2015, then hold off on it.

Set a date, study a ton, and evaluate your scores a few weeks before ur test. If you are not getting your desired score (in the range), push the test back. Do not take it if you aren't ready. You shouldn't plan to retake it. If you can score well on your first try, that will obviously look better than retaking it a bunch of times.

Also keep in mind that if you're planning on taking the 2014 MCAT in January of 2015 then, were you to need a retake, you would be forced to "retake" a fundamentally different test.

I would wait till you finish as most reqs as possible... I took the MCAT before Physics II, that should be fine. Have you taken inorganic chemistry/biology in some other form? Otherwise I would just wait for 2015 and study as hard as possible for the new test.
