Hi, I have been curious about OMFS. (I know there is at least one thread about this!)
For simplicity,
1. How many years are required to complete the program? (4yr or 6yr?)
2. Given 6yr program, the dentist must also complete studies at medical school. Then, what about 4yr program? So, MD is only given to those dentists completing 6yr program?
3. This program contains the longest program, which will lead to earn DDSor DMD & MD degree. Right? What do they do with MD degree?(Compared to those surgeons holding the same MD degree / any limitation on their(DDS/MD) treatment range?)
4. Sounds like they will earn highest average income. If this is true, what makes them earn so highest average income?
5. When they are specializing, they can also pursue MS(D) degree or PhD degree. Right? Then, it takes the same year, but more intensive?
6. At last, this is one of a kind of question I have wanted to ask. Can dentist pursue PhD degree without MS degree? What's the difference between PhD degree and MS degree for dentists? (Can be stupid question!)
MS degree --> Research involvement, educating at dental schools
PhD degree --> Higher degree than MS degree / Research involvement / Dental professors
To be at high position at academic field, one should pursue PhD degree, too. What would be the limit of having only MS degree, when one desire to educate at dental school?
It's not relevant with what I am focusing on right now, but I am curious about this. 😎
